From Trash to Treasure: Turning Negatives Into Positives

Lesotho, USA, Brazil, Bulgaria 2020 Documentary Cor 25 min.

The people of Lesotho —a highland country surrounded by South Africa— face numerous challenges. However, the country’s grassroots communities also demonstrate enormous capacity and creativity. Many artists use their talent to turn negatives into positives: designers who transform trash into beautiful jewelry, clothing and rugs, filmmakers who transform tragedies into artistic expressions of resilience and compassion, musicians who write songs to save the environment. The film portrays these inventive creators who use art as a means of communicating a common desire for change.

The film "Unite for Bissau (Nô Kumpu Guiné): Agroecology and Feminism in Guinea Bissau" will be presented together with the screenings of the film "From Trash to Treasure: Turning Negatives into Positives".

Both Films will also be exhibited at the Itaú Cultural Streaming Platform. More information here.
