Almost Brothers (2004)
Sobre o filme
The fifties. Miguel?s father is a journalist with a passion for popular music and father to Jorge, an important samba composer in the favela shantytown. Even belonging to very different social classes, the boys grow up to be friends. A long while later, Miguel and Jorge meet again in the prison of Ilha Grande, both sentenced by the Law for National Security. One is a political prisoner and the other a bank robber. When he is released from prison, Jorge uses what he learned from Miguel to start his own organization, the Falange Vermelha, the main group of drug dealers in the prisons and shanty-towns in Rio de Janeiro. Yet another encounter marks their lives. Miguel?s daughter goes to funk dancing and begins to go up the shantytown to meet drug dealer Delay. A new cycle begins and renders explicit the well known class shock between the middle class and the slums.
