Born in Salvador, Brazil, in 1939. As an actress, she worked with some of the most important directors in the history of Brazilian cinema, such as Glauber Rocha, Rogério Sganzerla, Joaquim Pedro de Andrade and Júlio Bressane. She started her career behind the camera in the 2000’s, with the shorts “Reinvenção da Rua” (2003) and “A Miss e o Dinossauro - Bastidores da Belair” (2005). Also directed the medium-length film “Power of Affections” (2013) and feature films like “Baal’s Song” (2008), “Light in Darkness” (2010), “Ugly, Me?” (2013), “Ralé - The Lower Depths” (2015), and “My Calendar Girl” (2017), all of them presented at the Mostra. Ignez was also honored at the 45th Mostra, in 2021, with the Leon Cakoff Prize.
