The Fall of Fujimori (2005)
Sobre o filme
Documentary on former Peruvian president Alberto Fujimori who, after ten years in power, fled Peru at the end of the year 2000 and sought asylum in Japan, midst severe accusations of misuse of public funds, assassination, and corruption. In January, 2004, Fujimori agreed to give an interview on his tumultuous government. The result is a revealing profile of a modern dictator. The film also explores a series of temporary events that defined Fujimori`s government, including the meteoric ascent from university professor to president, his relationship with a spy, Vladimiro Montesinos, and the outcome of the takeover of the Japanese embassy in Lima by terrorists. Misuse of public funds and buying over parliament leaders are news today within the political crisis also experienced in Brazil.
