The subsistence of the few inhabitants of the island of Sainte-Marie-La Mauderne was always based on fishing. But, in the last few years, the fish have become scarce and the population lives on unemployment benefits. Destiny then smiles on the little place when a plastics company announces its interest in building a factory there, with the only condition being that a doctor is always available in the little town. The problem is that no-one believes that any doctor would want to move to the middle of nowhere. The situation seems hopeless until Lewis, after suffering an accident in Montreal, finds himself heading to the island in a boat. Now the town’s entire population get together to try to convince the illustrious visitor that Sainte-Marie-La Mauderne is the best place to live.
