Mangal Pandey the Rising: Ballad of Mangal Pandey (2005)
Sobre o filme
In 1857, the English hold sway over India, plundering riches and overburdening the population. This form of control produces enormous feelings of rebellion and opens the way for a desire for emancipation. The colonizers then form an army of their own, consisting of Hindus and Moslems, referred to as "sepoys". The group is faithful to the colonizers until Mangal Pandey, one of the "sepoys" decides to lead a rebellion. The conflict breaks out when the soldiers learn that the troops use animal fat for the munition cartridges, which is forbidden according to their religion, and, also, because one of the English officers falls in love with a local girl.
