Peacock (2005)
Sobre o filme
The film portrays life for a family with the Chinese Cultural Revolution at its peak. This was a period when millions of people were transferred by force up-country. The story is told from the point of view of three brothers. One of them, the oldest, is overweight and mentally handicapped and is the victim of every conceivable type of prejudice and humiliation in the neighborhood. His brothers are embarrassed by the situation: they reject him and have even thought in terms of doing away with him. His mother, on the other hand, has plans to pay a girl, equally handicapped, money to marry him. Disillusion instills in the younger brothers the desire to leave town, as the only alternative to getting themselves rid of the problem.
