Ode to Cologne (2000)
Sobre o filme
Wim Wenders returns to documentaries and music after his success with Buena Vista Social Club (1999). In this concerto-film, he tells the story of a rock and roll band from the seventies, named BAP. The group from the province of Cologne sings in a local dialect and is ignored in the rest of the country. BAP has as leader, musician Wolfgang Niedecken. Wolfgang Niedecken, singer and founder of the band is a conductor associating flashes from the last two decades in the history of Germany to musical clips. Ode to Cologne is a mix of fiction and reality. During the rehearsals of the band, in a beautiful theater in Essen, actors devise small scenes. Wenders uses the paintings by U.S. painter Edward Hopper as reference for the illumination and the colors in the film.
