A group of children, war refugees, accompanied by a nun are on a flight bound for Luanda, capital of Angola. When they arrive at the airport, N?dala, a boy of 12, gets away from the group and goes off to explore the town. While the nun searches in vain to find him, we follow along with N?dala in his journey through the busy city streets. And there he meets Antonio, an old fisherman who helps him and with whom he builds a friendship. He also meets people with second intentions who try and harm him. The boy?s dream is to return to the village he was obliged to flee and in which his parents were killed. The plot provides insight into the confusing political situation in Angola and the effects of the war on its inhabitants.
