Bety is an actress popular in novellas in Brazil and is in a favela shanty town in search of her twin sister Marlene, who is a prostitute and with whom she lost contact long ago. Filippo, an Italian living in Brazil, has affairs with various women, amongst these, Marlene, who is known by a pseudonym, Kelly. He has left his pregnant wife, Giulia, in Italy, but she continues to send him letters. The action takes place in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, in the region of Piemonte and in Paris.
