Kadosh (1999)
Sobre o filme
In an extremely orthodox Jerusalem district, two sisters react differently to the religious precepts and community rules dictated by men. Meir and Rivka have been married for ten years. They love each other but suffer for not having children, and this becomes a source of conflict within their community. The rabbi decrees: in order to maintain his family line, the husband is to reject Rivka and marry Haya, who can bear him children. The rabbi also decides that Rivka’ sister, Malka, should marry Yossef, his dedicated helper. Malka, however, is in love with Yaakov, a young singer who left the community to pursue a career. She is determined to fight for her love and freedom. At the same time, the submissive Rivka, deserted by her husband, plunges into a life of solitude and quiet seclusion and moves alone into a small apartment. Malka, in turn, reacts strongly to the future that is imposed upon her and rebels with hostility. The film was screened at the 23rd Mostra
