Josh Jarman (2004)
Sobre o filme
Josh Jarman is a demanding playwright who has just written the text he considers his masterpiece. His dream, naturally, is to see his play produced and exhibited in a large theatre to a select public. After seeking all over town for a producer interested in investing in his play, he meets Stan Billows, a ruthless producer known for great public successes. Billows thinks Josh’ text is quite good but decides not to produce it for deeming it too long and serious. In the producer’ office, Josh meets Sasha, who he believes is a writer like him. They soon identify with each other, and start a relationship. What Josh does not know, however, is that Sasha is Billows’ daughter, who then decides to produce his play, but with one condition: that he continue to meet his daughter, which is not really a problem for Josh. Things complicate, however, when Billows and the director hired to direct the play decide to make changes in the performance in order to attract more audience. They include musical and dance scenes, and devoid the text of its original features. Josh then experiences a dilemma: accept the intromissions to see his play produced and sacrifice his artistic integrity, or break up with everything, and start all over again from scrap.
