The Little Chinese Seamstress (2002)
Sobre o filme
Based on the autobiography of Chinese director Dai Sijie, the film tells the story of two teen-age friends. In the seventies, two boys of 17 are sent to a rehabilitation camp simply because they are the sons, respectively, of a dentist and a doctor. Because they are considered "bourgeois" and, therefore "enemies of the people", the boys are sentenced to hard labor in a village in the mountains. Fate takes a different turn for them when they meet the beautiful granddaughter of the local tailor. In an endeavor to impress, they seduce her with stories from western books that are forbidden, especially novels by Balzac.
