Five years have passed since the atomic bomb hit Hiroshima, killing thousands of people. Even so, the surviving population suffers from the radiation left by the bombing, sometimes, it comes in the form of black rain. In this context, Yasuko, her uncle, and her aunt are forced to deal with the ordeals of the disaster. Based on the book of the same name by Masuji Ibuse.
The film received a special mention of the Ecummenical Jury and the Technical Grand Prize at the 1989 Cannes Film Festival.
