Based on the homonymous novel by trans author and screenwriter Camila Sosa Villada, who also stars in the film, “Thesis on a Domestication” follows a successful Argentine trans actress proudly claiming her hard-earned place in the world. She revels in the prestige of her glittering career, drawing the attention of a lawyer. As their love blossoms into marriage, they build a home and family together. Sosa Villada’s character navigates the unexpected challenges of her iconoclastic life, reshaping the traditional trans narrative. By tracing the course of her life, she weaves a narrative that demands the right to ambition, desire, glamour, security, and the freedom to embrace both flaws and contradictions. When the couple adopts a child, they defy the conservative norms of Argentine society, but their pursuit of domestic happiness is disrupted during a visit to the actress’s hometown.
