The documentary addresses the life and work of Brazilian actor and comedian Sebastião Bernardes de Souza Prata (1915-1993), also known as the Great Othelo. Grandson of slaves, with a humble origin, he changed his life by standing out in his career —a great achievement for a black actor in the first half of the 20th century—, working with filmmakers like Orson Welles, Joaquim Pedro de Andrade, Werner Herzog, Júlio Bressane and Nelson Pereira dos Santos. Through his work in front of the cameras, Othelo spoke about the racism that haunted him for 80 years, two dictatorships and over a 100 films.
