Dominique, a middle-aged woman, lives alone in the Dominican Republic since her children moved out. She waits, anxiously, for the arrival of her first grandchild, who will be born abroad. Her life changes when Carmen, her maid, disappears and leaves behind her granddaughter, a 7-year- old girl. Following her maternal instincts, she decides to take in the kid. As she deals with pushback from her family, Dominique finds herself challenging her own priorities.
