Born in Yanbian, Jilin, China, in 1962. He studied Chinese literature and began writing poetry and novels in 1986. Zhang Lu has been working as a filmmaker since 2001. Among his works are the features “Grain in Ear” (2005), winner of the ACID Prize at Cannes Film Festival; “Desert Dream” (2007); “Dooman River” (2010, 34th Mostra), which received a special mention from the Crystal Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival; “Gyeongju” (2014) and “Fukuoka” (2019).
