Born in Yanbian, Jilin, China, in 1962. He studied Chinese literature and began writing poetry and novels in 1986. Zhang Lu has been working as a filmmaker since 2001. Among his works are the features “Grain in Ear” (2005), winner of the ACID Prize at Cannes Film Festival, “Desert Dream” (2007), “Dooman River” (2010, 34th Mostra), which received a special mention from the Crystal Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival, “Gyeongju” (2014) and “Fukuoka” (2019).
