Born in Syria in 1991. Waad is a journalist, activist and director. In 2016, she began to document the war in Aleppo, in a journalistic series made for television. With Edward Watts, she directed her first documentary for cinema, “For Sama” (2019), which showed five years of her life in the middle of the conflict in Syria, and was nominated to the Academy Award in the same category. “We Dare to Dream” is her second feature.
