Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, in 1966. Komandarev studied film and television directing at the New Bulgarian University, where he has been a lecturer since 2008. His feature debut “Dog’s Home” (2000), premiered at the Berlinale. He also directed features like “The World Is Big and Salvation Lurks Around the Corner” (2008), “The Judgement” (2014, 38th Mostra), “Directions” (2017) and “Rounds” (2019), presented in film festivals like Cannes, Karlovy Vary, Toronto and Mar del Plata. He has directed and produced several documentaries including “Alphabet of Hope” (2004), “The Town of Badante Woman” (2010), and “Life from Life” (2021).
