Australian filmmaker who was born in the Netherlands in 1951. He attended the Australian Film and Television School, graduating in 1980. Since then he has directed feature films like “Bad Boy Bubby” (1993, 18th Mostra), Grand Special Jury Prize and Critics’ Prize at the Venice International Film Festivals, “The Quiet Room” (1996), “Dance Me To My Song” (1998), “The Tracker” (2002), which received an honorable mention at the Venice International Film Festival, “Ten Canoes” (2006, 30th Mostra), winner of the Special Jury Prize in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival, “Charlie’s Country” (2013) and “In the Same Garden” (2016).
