Born in Chicago in 1943. He is an American film director, screenwriter, author, and producer. He studied at the London Film School in 1967, and spent seven years in the United Kingdom going to film school and then working on commercials. Mann returned to the United States in the early 1970s, and began work in television, and became notably known for his role as executive producer on the popular TV series “Miami Vice’ (1984–89). One of the most important American contemporary filmmaker, he made movies like “Thief” (1981), “Manhunter” (1986), “The Last of the Mohicans” (1992), “Heat” (1995), “The Insider” (1999), “Ali” (2001), “Collateral” (2004), “Miami Vice” (2006), “Public Enemies” (2009) and “Blackhat” (2015).
