Born in Ukraine in 1982. She graduated in directing from the Kyiv National University of Theater, Cinematography and Television. In 2010, Maryna participated in the Berlinale Talent Campus and, in 2016, she studied for a master’s at the Konrad Wolf Film University of Babelsberg, in Germany. She made, among others, the short film “Cross-Country” (2011), winner of the Golden Palm at the Cannes Film Festival, and the documentary “Penguin” (2015). “Stepne” is her first feature film.
