Brazilian filmmaker from Santa Catarina, she works as a screenplay, executive producer, and director. She has a degree in German language and literature from Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, and teaches in the audiovisual and cinema course at Universidade do Sul de Santa Catarina. Maria Emília directed short films like “Alva Paixão” (1995), “Roda dos Expostos” (2001), “Um Tiro na Asa” (2005) and “Mulher Azul” (2010). “Port-au-Prince” is her first feature film.
