Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1971. Marão is an animation director graduated from the UFRJ School of Fine Arts. He was founding president of ABCA (Brazilian Association of Animation Cinema) and professor on the postgraduate course in animation at PUC. He made the short animations films like “Chifre de Camaleão” (2000, 24th Mostra), “Engolevilha” (2003) and “Eu Queria Ser um Monstro” (2009). “Bizarre Fish from the Abyssal Zone” is his first feature film.
