Born in Portugal in 1984, he studied at the National Film and Theatre Academy, in Lisbon, and at University of Cinema, in Buenos Aires. His works include “Arena” (2009), winner of the Golden Palm for best short film at Cannes Film Festival, and “Rafa” (2012), which received the Golden Bear for best short film at the Berlin International Film Festival. He made the feature films “Mountain” (2015, 39th Mostra) and “The Dead and the Others” (2018, 42nd Mostra), winner of the Jury Prize in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes.
