Born in San Sebastián, Spain, in 1961. She studied fine arts at the University of the Basque Country and continued her studies at the Art Academy in Düsseldorf, in Germany. Isabel also earned a master’s degree from Calarts, in Los Angeles, where she directed “Los Muertitos” (1993). She also made the short animations “The Balloon” (2003), “La Gallina Ciega” (2005), “Ámár” (2010), “Bajo la Almohada” (2012), “Amore d’Inverno” (2015) and “Kutxa Beltza” (2016). “Sultana’s Dream” is her first feature film.
