Born in Sarajevo in 1954. Kusturica is a Serbian film director, musician, actor, producer and writer. He made feature films like “Do You Remember Dolly Bell?” (1981), winner of the best first work award at the Venice International Film Festival, “When Father Was Away on Business” (1985), winner of the Golden Palm at the Cannes Film Festival, “Time of the Gypsies” (1988), award for best director at Cannes, “Underground” (1995), also winner of the Golden Palm at Cannes, and Black Cat, White Cat (1998), Silver Lion at Venice, in addition to “Life Is a Miracle” (2004), “Maradona by Kusturica” (2008), “On the Milky Road” (2016) and “El Pepe: A Supreme Life” (2018). The 25th Mostra made a retrospective of his films in 2001. He was the founder of the band Emir Kusturica & The No Smoking Orchestra, and director of the Kustendorf International Film and Music Festival. At the 47th Mostra, Kusturica is also honored with the Leon Cakoff Prize.
