Born in Kazakhstan in 1984. He graduated from the Kazakh National Academy of Arts, and in 2007, he joined the Asian Film Academy, in Busan, South Korea. Baigazin’s debut feature, “Harmony Lessons” (2013), won, among others, the Jury Prize at the 37th Mostra and the Silver Bear for its outstanding artistic contribution at the Berlin International Film Festival. He also directed “The Wounded Angel” (2016, 40th Mostra), “Would You Like to Stargaze?” (2017) and “The River” (2018, 42nd Mostra), presented in the Venice Film Festival. In 2014, he was a member of the jury at the 38th Mostra.
