Born in France in 1966. He started out as an assistant editor for Maurice Pialat’s “Under the sun of Satan” (1987) and then directed his first short film, “Les Dernières Heures du Millénaire”, in 1990. He made feature films like “Bar des Rails” (1992), presented at the Venice International Film Festival, “Too Much Happiness” (1994, 19th Mostra), winner of the Jean Vigo Award at Cannes Film Festival, “Boredom” (1998, 22nd Mostra), “Red Lights” (2004, 28th Mostra), “Wild Life” (2014), winner of the Special Jury Prize at the San Sebastián Film Festival, “The Prayer” (2018, 42nd Mostra), presented at the Berlinale, and “Happy Birthday” (2019).
