Swiss filmmaker born in Iran in 1941. Founder of the company Les Films du Losange, he produced films by Jean-Luc Godard, Jacques Rivette, and Eric Rohmer. In his extensive filmography as a director are the feature films: "More" (1969); "La Vallée" (1972); "General Idi Amin Dada: A Self Portrait" (1974); "Koko: A Talking Gorilla" (1978, 3rd Mostra); "Barfly" (1987); "Reversal of Fortune" (1990), nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director; "Single White Female" (1992); "Our Lady of the Assassins" (2000); "Terror`s Advocate" (2007); "Amnesia" (2015); and "The Venerable W." (2017); screened at festivals such as Cannes, Locarno, and Venice.
