Sobre o filme

The third episode in the production Amore e Rabbia based on the parables in the Gospel, The Paper Flower Sequence takes up the theme from Oedipus Rex: “the guilt of innocence”. In the film, Ninetto Davoli dances in the middle of the road with a giant flower made of paper, the symbol of his innocence, but also of his alienation. Soon after, he is to be the victim of a curse from God and is to die. “There are times when it is not possible to be innocent. It is necessary to be aware. Not to be aware means to be guilty. That is why I had Ninetto walking along the Via Nazionale and, on him, important scenes from the Vietnam War and other events worldwide. At a given moment, the voice of God incites him to become aware of these facts. However, he does not understand the reason why he should, since he is immature and innocent. God then condemns him and causes him to die”, explained Pasolini.
