In Iran, in the late seventies, teenager Emkan endures the strict discipline imposed by his family and by school, for his vocation for the arts is viewed as an offense to God. He falls in love with Maassoum, the daughter of the new administrator of the village cinema. Emkan goes against family and religion and decides on cinema for a career. With the arrival of the Islam Revolution led by Aiatollah Khomeini, the cinema is closed down and Maassoum is forced, suddenly, to leave with her family. Emkan travels the roads searching for her. He goes to Teheran and later to Ahwaz, his Super-8 camera in hand. The film was based on facts in the life of the director.
