Taurus (2001)
Sobre o filme
Second film from the tetralogy on the most powerful personalities of the twentieth century (the first was Moloch, on the romance between Hitler and Eva Braun). Taurus revolves around the last hours of Lenin, his isolation, his existential issues, and his perplexity in face of the end. The Russian leader who changed the course of history and shook the world awaits death in a house loaned to him by the State, alone, under guard, surrounded by strangers, useless household junk and disarray, in a place that more resembles a museum. His body lies impotent, his conscious mind gradually fades, but his lust for struggle and for power never leaves him. Only his wife is by his side. The measured steps of his successor in wait of his death resound in the distance: “The tragedy that was later to sweep Russia and the events that led to extreme conditions are not the concern of this film”, says the director. “First and foremost is the author, composer, and conductor of this catastrophe in one of the most dramatic moments of his life.”
