Sobre o filme

Young Betty is a waitress at a restaurant in Fair Oaks, a small town in Texas. She is married to a used car dealer who treats her as though she were nothing but trash and never remembers her birthdays. Her only refuge from mediocrity in life is her favorite weekly Uma Razão para Amar - a melodrama played by "hero" Dr David Ravell who, in one of the episodes of the soap opera, says that: "I know there is someone special for me out there". She believes the doctor is talking directly to her. Betty?s dreams begin to come true when an incident completely alters the course of her life and adds emotion to her dull day-to -day existence. One night, Betty is witness to the savage murder of her husband by two drug trafickers, Charlie and Wesley. In a state of shock, now pursued by the two criminals, she denies reality and takes refuge in the perfect universe of Uma Razão para Amar. Betty decides to become a nurse and sets out on a coast-to-coast journey by car across the United States, in search of her dream. Her only thought is to get to Los Angeles and meet Dr David Ravell in person.
