Darling Stranger (2002)
Sobre o filme
Based on the award-winning play “Intensa Magia”, by Maria Adelaide Amaral, the film tells the story of Alberto, the patriarch of the family that is informed of the engagement of the youngest daughter Zezé at a family gathering for his birthday. Commemorative dates have always been a source of anguish among the members of the family; however, the mother has always insisted on family get-togethers. No one could possibly imagine in what frame of mind the father might be in on these occasions. The event triggers feelings that cause Alberto to give vent to his pain and frustration of a man who placed the family above all, including his personal ambition. The father begins by ironizing each and every one and, in a crescendo that is ever more cruel and bitter, he touches on the weak point of each and all, thereby generating intolerable tension. There will be no lack of insults, accusations, complaints, and resentful discourse, typical of unhappy families.
