Princess (1999)
Sobre o filme
nspired on the book "Princess" by Maurizio Jannelli and Fernanda Farias de Albuquerque, the film begins with a train trip for Fernanda, a young Brazilian transvestite, through the Swiss Alps, heading for Italy. A girl and her father observe him with curiosity: wearing jeans and a T-shirt, his face is ambiguous. At times, he looks like a man, yet he turns his head, and resembles a woman. When the train arrives at the Italian border, Fernanda is arrested as an illegal immigrant, but goes free when he indulges the immigration official with oral sex. He arrives in Milan and is dazzled by the elegance of the inhabitants and the beauty of the architecture. He then goes to Pensione Napoli where he meets Charlo, a former gay friend from Brazil to whom he reveals his plans: to save money and have an operation for change in sex. His dream is to be a normal woman, find the love of his life, and to be a housewife. To his friend?s amazement, Charlo announces: "If you have your penis removed, you will die of hunger in Italy. Italian men are partial to a penis and breasts. The saying here goes: ?No dick, no dinner?. On Via Pirelli, the district famous for prostitution of transvestites in Milan, Fernanda is nicknamed Princess and becomes one of the sex professionals most in demand in the city. He meets Gianni, a married man who becomes his lover. He leaves his wife Lidia and sets up residence with Fernanda. It seems impossible, however, that Princess will ever flee his own dubious nature and the site for all like him in Milan: Via Pirelli.
