Paria (2000)
Sobre o filme
Viktor, age 18, is in Paris on the eve of the crossover to the year 2000. He is a motorboy for a video-hire service and has just met the love of his life, Anabelle. This is the good news for the day. Soon after, his motorcycle is stolen, and he is evicted from the room he occupies for being three months in arrears with the rent. Wandering about the city, Viktor meets Momo who has lived off odd jobs in the streets, now, for two years. The two come to the conclusion that the ills that have beset them are but one: social exclusion. There is always hope, however, at the start of a new year. "To me - I live in a democracy that fabricates rules that are ever less democratic, where exclusion is one of the most disquieting of social rules. So much so that for some twenty years now, this exclusion has taken root, deep set and legally within the framework of society. And what is worse, in our minds - as if exclusion were a natural calamity we must become accustomed to", says Nicolas Klotz. He was awarded the special jury prize at the San Sebastián Festival in Spain.
