The Town Is Quiet (2000)
Sobre o filme
Impossible loves, racism, violence, drugs, and prostitution. All of these ingredients blend together in the whirl of situations generated by Director Robert Guédiguian. His protagonists are common people involved in small day-to-day tragedies. One of these is Michele who works in a fish market and whose sole objective is to free her daughter from a dependence on drugs. Another is Paul who betrayed his friends who are on strike and wishes to become a taxi driver. There is also Viviane who can no longer stand her husband’s option in politics, and Abderamane who has spent some time in jail and now wants to help his brothers. These and various other characters co-exist in an unstable harmony under the sun of Marseille, the Director?s native city in the south of France. All seems to be at peace, but in truth, the city is not at rest.
