Landscape (2000)
Sobre o filme
Ten stories that cover one century of day-to-day life in an imaginary province in East Europe. The inhabitants of this village “that never existed and will never exist” reflect on the chaos which is the real world, while they themselves live out fantastic stories, such as in the case of a deaf man who eats a snake and has an unusual experience. But there are also prosaic cases such as that of an adorable beggar punished for disturbing a local family. Or even two women who go back over their lives. In another passage, a tailor recollects that he was most admired for his biting humor. Other persons are mysterious, such as the Jewish doctor who achieved a small miracle. The war is present with cross-fire between Germany and Russia that hits the village and is observed by two children. There is also a young soldier seduced by an ambitious widow. More than a place, Landscape portrays a variety of human landscapes, transformed by the advent of war.
