Director Marc Levin travels to Chicago, with an important name in hip-hop culture in the U.S., Chuck D – from Public Enemy – and Leonard Chess, heir to the blues seal ‘Chess Records’. The objective is to make a recording by gathering together veterans and legendary names that made Chicago one of the most important centers for creativity in blues and representatives of the hip-hop scene. Koko Taylor, Otis Rush, Magic Slim, Ike Turner and Sam Lay appear in original recordings. The film also includes new scenes from Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley, and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band.
