Oshima 99 (1999)
Sobre o filme
Director Nagisa Oshima planned to make Taboo, since in 1996. Plans were called off after the Japanese master suffered a stroke that paralyzed all of his right side. After three years of difficult rehabilitation, Oshima took up work on the film once more. He also gave permission to Director Naoe Gozu to bring her camera to the film set at Shochiku Kyoto Studios and follow up on all of the process of production. Things were not easy to start with. Gozu had to win over all of the team - a group of actors and technicians, true followers of Oshima. She then had to win Oshima himself. "It took me one week before I could get a close-up of the Director", says Gozu. "Japanese directors today follow a course laid out by Oshima over 40 years ago, but curiously enough, no one had made a documentary about him. We showed various scenes of an extremely private nature that nobody had filmed before". she says.
