House of Mystery (1923)
Sobre o filme
A creative wedding scene filmed only with the silhouettes of the characters is the start to this tale of murder, romance, and blackmail covering a total of 18 years. Restored by the French Film Association, the series consists of ten episodes: L’Ami Felon, Le Secret de L’etang, L’Ambition au Service de la Haine, L’Implacable Verdict, Le Pont Vivant, La Voix du Sang, Les Caprices du Destin, En Champ Clos, Les Angoisses de Corradin, Le Triomphe de L’Amour. The film is based on the first novel by writer Jules Mary, published, originally, in chapters in the ?Le Petit Parisien? newspaper. Julian Villandrit is the owner of a textile mill together with manager Henri Corradin, his childhood friend. Both are in love with the same woman, Régine de Bettigny, who marries Villandrit. Madly jealous, Corradin tries all he can to keep the couple apart, and goes to the extent of accusing his rival of a crime he never committed.
