In the 1860s, during the Risorgimento, the beginning of the troubled period of the Italian unification, the Sicilian prince Don Fabrizio of Salina witnesses the decline of the nobility and the rise of bourgeoisie in Italy. Based on the Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa’s novel, this recently restored version is 23 minutes longer than the original released version. Winner of the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Restored in association with Cineteca di Bologna, L`Immagine Ritrovata, The Film Foundation, Pathé, Fondation Jérôme Seydoux-Pathé, Twentieth Century Fox and Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia-Cineteca Nazionale.
