Sobre o filme

Buddhadeb Dasgupta lends continuity to his concern with the survival of traditional actors - a subject broached in his former film, The Return. In a village, a second-rate actor performs the traditional dance of the tiger, an art that has survived for several generations in his family. He will take on every kind of odd job in neighboring towns to keep the traditional dance of the tiger alive in his native town where the love of his life is living. That year, however, things are not as expected. A circus arrives on the scene at the same time, and takes up the attention of the villagers and even of his beloved. The “tiger man” tries at all costs to capture the attention of the audience that finds greater amusement at the real tiger brought by the circus. “If there is a real tiger, who is going to want a fake tiger?”, says one of the townspeople, showing the sad reality for that “tiger man”.
