Two actors playing the part of God and Lucifer in the play ‘Inferno’, by Swedish playwright August Strindberg, eventually find themselves competing in real life also. João de Deus, the director, finds Henrique, a double of the actor that played the character of God, asleep in a boat that is part of the setting. He has an obsession for John Wayne and his way of walking. João and Henrique fight a philosophical, spiritual battle and meet an author known as God, who plans another play.
