Sobre o filme

A universal message of love for human beings, this animation pieces together the tragic story of Anne Frank. In Amsterdam, Anne is on her bicycle between canals talking to Lies, her first boyfriend. It is June 12, 1942, and she is given a diary in which to write her innermost thoughts. The war is running its course. Youngsters are being conscripted by the German occupation forces into forced labor. Anne?s family is Jewish and is in hiding in the vicinity of one of the many canals in Amsterdam. In spite of the limited space, the Franks welcome the Van Daan family and Dr Dussel, all of them hunted down by the Nazis, into their hiding place. They are eight all told, obliged to live under the same roof for two years of war, bombing, and extreme privation. Anne matures rapidly, develops her talent as a writer, and produces one of the books most widely read the world over in the last fifty years, the celebrated Anne Frank?s Diary. With a strong personality, she tries to share her idealized world with the adults in the house. She also charms Pieter Van Daan, a handsome young man also in hiding with his parents. On June 6, 1944, both families hear over the radio, their only connection with the outer world, that General Eisenhower has just announced D-Day, the invasion of Normandy, heralding permanent liberation. In spite of all the suffering, there is a shadow of hope, reborn.
