Lubov and Other Nightmares (2001)
Sobre o filme
Alex is a typical youth of the post-communist, post-post-modern, “post-everything” phase in Russia: with no job, no prospects, nothing. He dreams of his idyllic past - ancient Saint Petersburg and his family’s country residence - and with the future he would like to have - in some cosmopolitan city in the west, existing in a cybernetic world surrounded by beautiful girls... Reality, however, is very different: his country is plunged in corruption, in terror, and in poverty. When he is not lost in his day dreams, he wanders the city and engages in his favorite activity, namely, seduction. Then he meets Lubov, a woman ill dealt with by life, lonely, exposed to poverty and violence. At first, out of curiosity, Alex invests in the relationship, until he awakens the feminine side that was dormant in Lubov. He, in turn, learns a little about “real life”, although he still prefers fiction.
