Three men have been tortured by the Salazar dictatorship police. Thirty years later, the torturer crosses their paths, and they decide to imprison and to judge him. The man kidnapped denies he is who they think he might be, which leads them to increase the violence in interrogation proceedings - from intimidation and psychological pressure to physical attack, crossing the barriers that separate tortured from torturers. The story is carefully balanced on the limits between justice and vengeance, right and wrong, in a crescendo of tension that puts friendship, relationships, and fidelity to the test.
