Smoking I Wait (2008)
Sobre o filme
Anything goes to try and stop smoking. Even as far as making a film. This was what first-timer Adriana Dutra bet on, when, at the time, she was one among a billion smokers worldwide. Results are Smoking I Wait, a documentary that is not afraid to show on screen the suffering of anyone daring to break free from the vice most widespread in the 20th and early 21st centuries. The director, however, did not limit herself to a personal cause: in addition to presenting the historical evolution of cigarettes and techniques for their diffusion (can one ever forget the Hollywood stars?), she interviewed famous people, anonymous people, doctors, lawyers, sociologists, advertising agents, smokers, non-smokers, and re-incidental smokers, to form a broad panorama on the subject - from the compulsion and dependence on nicotine to conditions for planting tobacco in Brazil. This is a film for those who love, who have loved, or who loathe cigarettes.
